Benefits of castor oil
The use of castor oil has been around for centuries and the benefits of castor oil are far and wide. Castor oil packs are the main way that castor oil it’s used and they work by stimulating our tissue, our circulatory system, and our lymphatic system. This can help reduce inflammation, remove toxins, improve function, and promote healing on a cellular level. So, you can use a castor oil pack literally anywhere on the body and it will reap the many benefits. While I don’t believe in magic bullets and cure alls, castor oil packs come pretty darn close.
Here are just a few of the uses and the benefits of castor oil packs.
Organ support and healing
Whether it be your liver, gallbladder, kidneys, pancreas, or glands like your thyroid and adrenals a castor oil pack placed over these areas can promote healing and can improve function.
Placing a castor oil pack over your gallbladder can help break up gallstones likewise a castor oil pack over the kidneys can help break up kidney stones. A castor oil pack over your ovaries can help reduce cysts. A couple months ago I had a cyst rupture on my left ovary and the pain was intense. I couldn’t even stand up. I placed castor oil packs over that ovary on and off for the entire day and by dinner time the pain was gone. Many women will place them over their uterus during their periods to reduce cramping. I tried this for the first time recently and I didn’t even feel like I was in my period.
If You are doing a detox or cleanse of some sort, placing a castor oil pack over your liver can help support your liver while detoxing. There have also been anecdotal stories of people reversing liver damage with castor oil packs.
One use that we use in our house is for our son with type 1 diabetes. While I do not put out any claims that this will cure him, I do hope and pray for him to be cured everyday. And if a castor oil pack can help heal and repair damage to other organs then just maybe it can help heal and repair damage to his pancreas. We also use them over his liver to help flush the toxins from his synthetic insulin that is full of toxins as well as over his kidneys to support his kidney health. Type 1 diabetes is known to be a destroyer of kidneys So in addition to good management we give extra support to his kidneys with these castor oil packs.
Joint and muscle pain
If you’ve got muscle pain or joint pain you can use a castor oil pack for that as well. It’s a simple as placing the castor oil pack over the sore joint or muscle. They have even been known to help with inflammation caused by various autoimmune conditions. So whether the pain is chronic or acute due to injury the benefits of castor oil packs can be fully taken advantage of to help reduce pain and promote healing.
Cancer
In the same way that I don’t make any claims that castor oil packs will cure diabetes, I make no claims that castor oil packs will cure cancer. However, there have been several personal stories and lots of anecdotal evidence that castor oil packs placed over tumors can help reduce the tumors and eliminate cancer from the body. At the very least they can help support a person’s body and immune system while they are fighting against cancer.
Detoxing
If a castor oil pack can support the liver which is our master detox organ then it makes sense that using castor oil packs would support detoxing. However, they go even further than just supporting our liver when it comes to supporting detox. They also support our lymphatic system which also supports our bodi natural ability to detox. They can also help draw out mold, heavy metals, and parasites.
I am currently in the middle of a heavy metal and parasite cleanse. I am using the castor oil pack over my liver twice a week and over my intestinal track twice a week to help promote detox of heavy metals and parasites. When using a casserole pack over the intestinal track not only are you promoting detoxing you’re also supporting your detox pathway and promoting regular bowel movements which is extremely important when detoxing.

Now that you have read all about the benefits of castor oil packs you’re probably anxious to get started. They are simple enough to do but 1st a word of caution. Since castor oil packs can help promote detoxing it’s important to first ensure your detox pathways are supported and functioning optimally. It’s also extremely important to reduce your toxic load. If you have a high toxic load with overburdened detox pathways you could end up doing more harm than good. Read more about detoxing here. I also highly recommend you start out doing castor oil packs 1-2 times a week and work up to doing them 3 or more times a week. I do them anyway almost daily but you definitely want to work your way up to that.
Alright not now that I’ve gotten that out of the way let’s discuss how to do a castor oil pack.
First you’ll need a high quality castor oil. Look for something that is hexane free and cold press. I use Earthley’s Castor Detox
Once you’ve got your oil you’ll need a 100% cotton pad and a wrap of some kind. You can get a castor oil wrap like this or you can use a simple flour sack towel.
Choose the area of your body to place the castor oil pack on and put about a tablespoon of oil directly on your skin. Cover with you cotton pad and then wrap the area with your wrap. Cover with a heating pad or hot water bottle. In the summer we omit the heat source.
Sit back and relax and let the castor oil do it’s thing. Let the pack sit for 30-60 minutes. When done set aside you cloth pad for next time. You should be able to use the same cloth 40-50 times before discarding.
