True Breast Cancer Awareness

October is breast cancer awareness month. I’m sure you’ve seen that infamous pink ribbon all over the internet and throughout your favorite stores. I’m here to tell you that what is currently being done to promote breast cancer awareness and to fight against it is a sham.

Pink washing

First off many of these companies and organizations who claim to support breast cancer awareness and the fight against breast cancer, are also the same companies selling products that are filled with cancer causing toxins and endocrine disruptors. This is becoming known as “Pink Washing”

They profit off of breast cancer awareness by promoting the pink ribbon and donating a percentage towards fighting against breast cancer while at the same time selling products that are directly linked to cancer.

Toxins Found in every day products

The amount of toxins that can be found in every day products is staggering. Fragrances, parabens, heavy metals, and more can be found in a large variety of personal care products. Petroleum based food products like food dyes and artificial flavors, sugar, and synthetic ingredients can be found in most, if not all, processed foods. These toxins are not only carcinogenic but also hormone disrupting. This hormone distribution can lead to estrogen dominance. Many cancers, particularly breast cancer, feed off the excess estrogen.

Mammograms

Secondly, mammograms are heavily pushed and promoted throughout the month of October. Some places will even do them for free. Unfortunately mammograms are not the saving grace they claim to be and can infact do more harm than good!

A mammogram is essentially an x-ray, which exposes the breast tissue to radiation. Additionally, with the compression that occurs during a mammogram the radiation can be spread further and deeper into the breast tissue. There is growing evidence to suggest that mammograms can actually increase a woman’s risk for breast cancer.

Lastly, in approximately 40% off cases a mammogram is unable to detect the presence of cancer until the cancer is more advanced. Making them inadequate at early detection. Self breast examinations and yearly breast exams have proven to be as effective as mammograms but without the risks.

Between the mammograms and all the toxins we are exposed to is it any wonder so many suffer from breast cancer.

Thermography

Thermography is a more effective and safer alternative to mammograms. Done through thermal imaging, thermography, can detect cancer more accurately and much earlier than mammograms. They’re also done without the risk of radiation and are less invasive.

As with any cancer accurate and early detection can make all the difference in the fight against it. If breast cancer awareness was truly about the fight against breast cancer then thermography would become the standard, leaving mammograms a thing of the past.

A Revolutionary Approach

Speaking against the mainstream approach is not popular, but it needs to be done. We need to say no to cancer causing toxins in our personal care products, cleaning products, and our food. We need to say no to irradiating breast tissue through mammograms.

Instead choose products that are free from carcinogens and hormone disruptors. Eat real whole food that is free from toxic ingredients. Perform self breast exams monthly and get an annual breast examination done with a trusted medical professional. Start screenings via thermography if you have a family history of breast cancer, have had a mammogram in the past, or find something during a breast examination.

Let’s change the way we look at breast cancer awareness and turn the tides in the fight against it!
